The Lay of the No-Man’s Land
Always I recommend watching the entire film at least once, and then following along with this series explication, viewing the indicated portion of the film (time stamps located in subtitle) prior and during reading these posts.
I am now both beginning and ending each installment with a brief, broad-stroked summary, providing a big-picture entrance point into the current explication prior to viewing the art of the supporting evidence and then reviewing themes.
I seriously warn against solely relying on this summary, as you will miss a s-ton. But it might be a good place to start, or to superficially keep up until you have the time to go through the detailed explication. The beauty of the exercise of the deep investigation into this film is that we get to live into what it’s revealing to us; quick reviews of summaries will not provide us this critical experience, and will only illuminate the treasures intellectually, rather than experientially, and will not affect us at the core of where our misperceptions lie (in both senses of the word), correcting them and leading us to the waters of Freedom (drinking, like with the proverbial horse, will be up to you).
